The quality of our services is dependent on our employees. Appalachian Environmental Services employs its own project superintendents, operators and foremen to execute your project design on time, on budget and without incident. Using our own work forces, we can provide clients with turnkey project services or supplement their work forces as needed.  
AES is managed by Rebecca Ashe Henson, President, Mickey B. Henson, Vice President, and William "Bill" O. Ashe, Site Superintendent. The AES management team has over 60 collective years experience in the construction and environmental industries. 
Prior to co-founding AES, Mrs. Henson held a senior management role at MedEcon and Direct Medical, a national medical group purchasing organization. There, she managed multi-million dollar contracts.  
Dr. Henson has over 17 years experience in specialty construction, environmental management and engineering disciplines. Dr. Henson also has significant experience in the government sector, having worked in research and regulatory positions at the North Carolina Department of Environment and Natural Resources and at the USDA Forest Services Coweeta Hydrologic Laboratory. In these roles he researched Best Management Practices for environmental and construction operations.  Dr. Henson was also employed by Clemson University as a Research Assistant.  Dr. Henson holds a B.S. degree in Physics from Western Carolina University, a M.S. degree in Forest Hydrology from Clemson University, and a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Rice University. 
Mr. Ashe has over 35 years experience in commercial, heavy civil and specialty construction.  Mr. Ashe has worked for numerous contracting companies throughout the Southeastern United States.  He started his career in the late 60's as an equipment operator with the North Carolina Forest Service.  He then worked for various highway contractors and developers throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Virginia.  As an operator and a manager for construction companies, Mr. Ashe was involved with the construction of highways, dams, bridges and other heavy civil construction elements.  Mr. Ashe joined his daughter, Rebecca, and son-in-law, Mickey, when they started AES in November of 1998.
